What is the Development Fund?

The Development Fund (DF) was set up in 1981 to help IVSA achieve its mission statement: “To benefit the animals and people of the world by harnessing the potential and dedication of veterinary students to promote the international application of veterinary skills, education, and knowledge.”

The DF was created to help underprivileged faculties worldwide; it has assisted many students – not only improving their education but improving the health and welfare of the animals they care for and people that rely upon them. The DF has not only allowed many IVSA members to benefit from scholarships and grants but has also provided financial aid to IVSA MOs by donating books and educational material as well as covering their membership fees and sponsoring projects that align with IVSA's mission.

Where does the funding for the Development Fund come from?

The Development Fund (DF) relies on financial donations and fundraising activities to sustain its operations. The DF receives a significant boost from the generosity of individuals and organisations who donate equipment, services, and financial resources, as well as from the unwavering support of like-minded sponsors who share our vision of promoting animal welfare and advancing veterinary education on a global scale.

Live and Silent Auctions

We conduct activities generating funds for the DF, with our main focus being the DF auctions. These auctions, including both Live and Silent auctions, are held during the largest gatherings of IVSA members each year, which take place in different countries annually at the IVSA Symposium and Congress.

IVSA Merchandise

The DF offers a variety of merchandise, including hoodies, t-shirts, scrubs, notebooks, pins and mugs, which are available for purchase at IVSA international events. All revenue generated from these sales supports the DF's mission. Purchasing IVSA merchandise is a way for members to contribute to a worthy cause. 
 

Fundraising activities

To build a stronger and more compassionate IVSA community, IVSA MOs have the opportunity to support the DF by organising local fundraising events. We welcome and encourage the initiatives of our MOs, and we look forward to collaborating with them towards a brighter future for all.
